Every month, we search the top academic journals for theoretically and practically important research articles on failure, motivation, metacognition, and other topics related to cognitive science. We then summarize the articles in terms of the troubling phenomenon, the study design, key findings, and their implications for future research, interventions, educational practices, and learning strategies.

For example, such beliefs have been shown to be a major factor steering students away from taking science and math courses in high school and college. In the present study, we tested a novel story-based instruction that models how scientists achieve through failures and struggles.
