EPIC Achievement Award
EPIC Achievement Award. This award recognizes individuals who experience the EPIC journey: the recipient exemplifies a willingness to admit and accept failure along the way, to use the information offered by failure to make better decisions, and to embrace innovation in response to their failure. Basically, we are looking for individuals who have moved from failure to failure with no loss of motivation, inspiration, and enthusiasm for life.
The Epic Achievement Award
Dr. James S. C. Chao is the inaugural EPIC Achievement Award recipient.
Dr. Chao grew up in rural village in China that had no easy transportation to the outside world. He experienced the Second World War and the Chinese Civil war. He brought his wife and daughters from China to the U.S., where he had a hard time finding a job due to his accent and many other difficulties. He was also rejected by great universities where he really wanted to study. Despite all these obstacles in his life, he has become a leading entrepreneur and a great philanthropist in the world. He has received numerous honors and awards. He is the founder and chairman of Foremost Group, a highly successful leading international shipping and finance company known for its integrity, reliability, and services. Harvard Business School has created a center named after Dr. Chao’s wife, Mulan Chao,the first building ever at Harvard named after an Asian women. Their family foundation has provided over 5000 students with scholarships in both China and the U.S. EPIC is honored and inspired by the work of Dr. Chao and his family and are proud to recognize him as our inaugural EPIC Achievement Award recipient.
